Selz “Royal Blue” shoes were manufactured by a German immigrant, Rolf Selz. The company closed in the late 1940s. It is said the the Selz Company made a pair of shoes for Queen Elizabeth giving it the right to use the word “Royal” in advertisements. – Leatherberry

  4. My wife and I purchased a nice wooden box at an auction over 30 It is 17 inches wide, 29 inches long and about 13 inches deep. It had faded writing on the side, so we carefully darkened the print. It had Royal Blue and 3.50 shoes in a circular pattern with the word SELZ in the middle. Just had the idea to Google it and voila, found out what it was all about.
