  1. A saddlery in Worcester??? Now that must be a really old ad!

  2. I called the sign company and it is still in business. Macey Sign Co is a family run business since 1910 and this sign was one of the first they were commissioned to paint.

    Hello Frank,
I am very interested to find out more about the history of the cotters leather sign and business pictured above. The original owner of cotters leather was my uncle john and I’d love to hear more about it.
    Thanks,
    Elizabeth

    Frank —

My grandfather, Charles F. Gibbons, founded and ran Macey from 1910 until his death in 1965. This is undoubtedly his work, as it was located only a block from the Macey shop. Added family history — my father, John P. Pierce, worked for Frank Cotter in that shop while in high school.

    • Wow Charles. Thanks for sharing some of your family history with us. Glad to have captured the images for your narrative! Would love any pics from your Dad working at the shop. Best, Frank
