Back when the Chicago & Northwestern was still providing commuter rail service in Chicago, the joke was that “C&NW” stood for “cheap and nothing wasted.”
Funny Pete. Reminds me of the Costa Rican air-carrier I once took- LACSA. From NY to San José, CR, we must have landed in every Central American country after first landing in Miami. I called it “long arduous continuous stops airways.”
But once I got there, I was enchanted. I guess that’s the same feeling you get going thru the midwest and arriving in Chicago.
